“What’s The ‘Hub’ All About?”
Come to one of our free online mini support group + Fall Series information sessions to find out.
For around the cost of 2 counselling sessions, this Fall, set yourself up for 12 weeks of growth where you will build a habit of support and positive change, belonging to a hybrid (in-person and online) adult (ages 19+) ADHD/AuDHD support group in Vancouver. A lot can happen in three months 💛
Three months may seem long, but it is a very short period of time. If you are wanting to fast track understanding and managing your ADHD/AuDHD, belonging to a tightly facilitated, weekly group helps. I know this because I have witnessed it. It is what motivates me to continue to provide non-clinical support, a place where people have the opportunity to be a part of a community where they can practise and implement what they have learned from physicians, therapists, counsellors, and coaches and make living with ADHD/AuDHD a little easier.
What is the purpose of a 12 week group?
This is not about trying to “fix” yourself. I will always have ADHD and never be perfect. Yesterday I “lost” my car keys … in my car! Yup 😐 Moments like these will continue to pop up, but now instead of shaming myself, I smile and remind myself that I am human.
These groups are about growth at your own pace, with the focus always being on what is most important to you. Yes, coaching questions get asked! If you are at a stage in your life where you want change, are willing to challenge yourself, and a consistent schedule feels right for you, then our Fall support group series could be a good fit. I like to think of it kind of like a gym membership, but for your mental wellness. You show up each week and gradually, with some effort, change happens. By the end of 12 weeks you look back and realize how much stronger you have become.
My intention with this group series is to provide a space for you to reframe being neurodiverse. Even if you don’t speak once over the 12 weeks, you will learn. Let me explain. By being in the company of others who are working to change their ADHD/AuDHD experience to one that is more manageable you will likely start to:
Gain more awareness of how your ADHD/AuDHD shows up and the impact it has on your day to day
Feel less alone
Be inspired and motivated, as you hear others’ stories and get to know them.
Get better at noticing those limiting beliefs (CBT Skills you may have learned in therapy) that inevitably come up for every human, and even more so as we work towards change.
Come to a greater understanding that you only have control over yourself, but that still means you have a lot of choice.
That your environment impacts you a great deal, both positively and negatively.
Start to trust yourself and your instincts in what is right for you and begin to loosen the hold that comparison and negative self-talk has on you.
Come to better understand your sensitive nervous system, those painful feelings of rejection, and begin to work with it, rather than against it.
Change is uncomfortable, this is expected. Many emotions will come up, notably grief, anger, frustration, sadness, pity, and negative self-talk to name a few.
Sounds awful, right? But with change there also comes insight, relief, acceptance, ease, contentment, happiness, joy and many other feelings that contribute to mental wellness and reduce our stress levels.
Like a gym for your brain, having the habit of structured weekly support, while being part of a regular group as you learn a new way of living with neurodiversity is, in my opinion, a fast and enjoyable way to support lasting change.

MY BACKPACKING RULE:
DEAL WITH THE PROBLEM BEFORE IT BECOMES A BIGGER PROBLEM
A niggling rubbing in your boot? Stop and manage it before it becomes a huge blister.
I try to apply this same rule in my day to day life with many things ranging from health to relationships. Avoidance may be the easier path initially, but it often ends up creating a larger problem.
