Among us neurodiverse I know for a fact we hold a huge amount of knowledge and skills. How amazing would it be if we were to share these at our ADHD Social Hub events or even create an event based on something you would like to teach others? The thought of this makes me very happy!
I love learning, and recently, on a Social Hub hike in Lynn Canyon, I found out about a plant native to our area that I would normally never have noticed before, the ghost plant! Doesn’t it look so cool? We were lucky enough have someone who was very knowledgeable about local fauna and flora and keen to share. Her passion was contagious and it was a lot of fun to learn from her.
Today, while out hiking with my pup in a different area I noticed them. A simple walk in the woods with other neurodiverse folks a week ago and I am still benefiting from attending! I am now becoming much more present and aware of plants in my environment while adventuring in nature.
Do you have something you are so passionate about that time just zips away? For myself, my hyper focus is most definitely planning backpacking trips. I absolutely love sitting down with both a physical and digital map and organizing every detail of a backcountry trek. What might feel tedious for some I find pleasurable! It is hard to pull me away from it 😆
I think it would be great if adhd SOCIAL HUB participants shared their knowledge with the group. Together it is possible to create an interesting, supportive and fun community to spend time with. Please reach out to me if you have an interest that you would be willing to teach others. Let’s bring these ideas to life!
I encourage you to join our events both online and in-person. It feels great to take off the “mask” and enjoy the company of others who are passionate, kind, and have diverse interests. Learning new things is fun and sticks with us for days to come 🙃
I leave you with this…as always…please continue to ask yourself one important question “Do I surround myself with kind, supportive people?” Emotions are contagious. Come join us, you are welcome here 💛
