When do our best selves shine through?

I would argue that our genuine personality comes through when we are fully comfortable. As someone who has ADHD and has spoken to countless others who are also neurodiverse, I know that it is very common for us to feel on edge, or as most would say, anxious 😐. We pressure ourselves to always do the “right thing” in order to avoid rejection because when we do make mistakes, it often comes with judgement and criticism due to misunderstanding. A consequence of this often leads to neurodivergent folks “playing a role”. Sometimes we do this for so long we might not even know who our genuine self is. This can feel quite confusing and exhausting. Being with others who understand this is a relief.

I fundamentally believe that when we trust that we are in an environment of unconditional acceptance it creates the opportunity for us to relax and be our unique selves. At the the social hub uniqueness is valued, kindness is the culture, and support is our mission.

Social supports are positive for our well being, but this can be hard to create. Big cities are often isolating. Living in a town or area of the world where you know that neurodivergence is met with judgment can feel scary. In a world where you feel different, having a space where you can click and show up and know you are accepted can make a huge and beneficial impact on one’s sense of self.

The adhd SOCIAL HUB community is a place where you can:

  • meet others in a natural way

  • be your genuine self (or even discover it!), which leads more authentic connections

  • practice ADHD management skills

  • learn new skills from others

  • be inspired and motivated by those who are leaning into their strengths and positive traits

  • learn to accept and love yourself

  • try new activities you might not have considered before

  • challenge yourself as much or as little as you feel is right for you in an environment that is supportive

  • have the flexibility to choose what you want, when you want

Meeting up regularly with those who are also neurodivergent is a time I look forward to. My shoulders literally relax, my anxiety eases, and I feel a sense of joy as we start getting to know each other. Being in the company of people who want acceptance, kindness and to live their lives in a way that supports their personal hopes and dreams is, to put it plainly, awesome! Yes, I know it might be intimidating to try our group out, especially because I don’t post videos or pictures (privacy is a value!) but I encourage you to do something good for yourself. It just might be the change you need 🙂 because my guess is that you wouldn’t be on this site if you were not considering making a change in your life. Come to a free event with our growing community. You are welcome here!
