2025 Review: 1. What did you learn? 2. How have you changed?

Yes, I like to ask the hard questions. It literally will take me a week to answer this and that is why I am posting it early!

Since my early 20ies as each year comes to a close I have asked myself two questions:

  1. What did I learn?

  2. How have I changed?

I do this every year. I think it started after a particularly difficult personal and life altering event. It became my way of reframing things so that I could get through extremely hard times. I believe that noticing is important and we can always grow, whether from situations we would have preferred not to have had happen, or from positive experiences that we want to continue. Sometimes the answer is painful, sometimes it is joyful, and always, if you look closely enough, there is growth. Normally the two answers are related to each other. I hope you find this as interesting as I always have.

Answering this question should take you time. You need to marinate in it for a while. What you will discover is that your answer will also reveal your value(s), thus giving you a “compass” so to speak for 2026.

Take the time to daydream about your past year, maybe while enjoying an after dinner walk. Visualization also helps. YOUR year is the operative word. Do not compare yourself to others. This is just for you.

If you need help brainstorming you can ask yourself:

  1. What made me smile, what stood out as highlights?

  2. What made me sad, what stood out as lowlights?

  3. Who did I spend time with? How did I feel when I was with them? Do I have people in my life who are happy for my happiness and sad for my sadness?

  4. When did I feel most myself? When was I playing a role? What situations brought these behaviours out in me?

  5. What did I do that surprised even myself? What made me proud? Ashamed?

  6. What was the “mood/feeling” of 2025 for me? What is the feeling I want to lean into next year?

  7. What is important for me to add to my life? What could I eliminate?

Pay attention to your gut reactions. If you have a stronger reaction when thinking about something from the past year, that is an indicator that it resonated with you somehow. Explore that. Some might want to do this with the support of a trusted therapist if their emotions feel overwhelming. It is important to understand that coaching is not therapy, although it can work very well hand in hand to help you create change. Always have the correct support for the need at the time.

After I have found my answers to the 2 questions, I use them as a springboard to help me look forward to what I want for the New Year, and also what I don’t want. Having direction is important. We have much more choice than we think.

I then design and implement the scaffolding that will help me move towards what I want in the future.

I encourage you to support yourself by creating your own regular schedule from our calendar of events. Repetition breeds results.

I keep classes small and the cost low. As a Christmas promo, for every group class booked (excluding the free ones and our talk from our professional organizer) before or by January 4th you will receive a discount code that can be used for a one-on-one online coaching session at the rate of $80 (regular $150). Your code(s) will be valid for all of 2026 so you have the flexibility to book when you feel like it.

So, what are my answers to my New Year’s questions? You will have to wait until 2026 to find out! I will tell you on Sunday, January 4th at the first of our 12 upcoming online “Intention Setting” group coaching sessions of 2026. Book as many or as few as you you like. You do you!

I can’t wait for you to find out how group support can positively impact your life! The adhd SOCIAL HUB is growing and we are so glad you are a part of it!
